Command Prompt Tweaks - Disable the MS-DOS Command Prompt

This setting allows you to disable the use of the MS-DOS command prompt in Windows.

To do this follow the next steps:

  1. Open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit" and click on OK to start the regedit utility.
     
  2. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System (see picture 1).

  3. Create or modify the DWORD value "DisableCMD" and set it to a number from the list above.

    0 - (default) enable command prompt and batch files
    1 - disable command prompt and batch files
    2 - disable command prompt but allow batch files
     
  4. The change should take effect immediately.
